An apostille is a certificate that authenticates a public document so it can be used in another country that has joined the 1961 Hague Apostille Convention. It replaces the longer chain of embassy legalization between member countries.
Sierra Leone is currently not a party to the Apostille Convention. Documents issued in Sierra Leone are therefore authenticated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and then legalized by the embassy of the destination country — see our embassy and consulate legalization service. An apostille is the right route when your document was issued in a member country (for example the UK, the US or an EU state) and is going to another member country. Because an apostille can only be issued in the country that issued the document, we arrange it there through ABC Translation's international offices and return it to you in Sierra Leone.
